Here are some of the things we have been working on this week.
Math- Adding using mental math strategies: compensation, number lines and front end addition. Ask your child to show you what each strategy looks like. We can then use the vertical addition strategies to check our work.
Science- We have been exploring with gears and making devices that move using wind and water. Ask your child to explain the simple machines that make these devices work.
Writing- We have been learning how adjectives can improve the clarity of our sentences. Students have started writing a descriptive paragraph about the gourds we are observing in our class.
Social Studies- We continue to learn about Alberta and the natural resource industries that provide our citizens with products and jobs.
